Reset – Week 9

Reset: To set, adjust or fix in a new or different way 

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV

“Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation. Whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:11-13 NLT 

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:12-13 NIV

THE SECRET TO CONTENTMENT

 THE SECRET SAUCE 

“This is why I tell you to never be worried about your life, for all that you need will be provided, such as food, water, clothing – everything your body needs. Isn’t there more to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body more than clothing? Look at all the birds – do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food, yet your Heavenly Father provides them each with food. Aren’t you much more valuable to your Father than they?” Matthew 6:25-26 TPT

REGARDLESS OF MY CIRCUMSTANCES, MY POSSESSIONS, OR MY STATUS, I KNOW THAT I AM A CHILD OF GOD WHO LOVES ME, CARES FOR ME AND WILL PROVIDE EVERYTHING I NEED FOR ALL THAT HE DESIRES ME TO DO FOREVER

FOUR TRUTHS TO DEVELOPING AN ATTITUDE OF CONTENTMENT 

  1. AN ATTITUDE OF CONTENTMENT HAS VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH CIRCUMSTANCES

“I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.” Philippians 4:11 NIV 

“Her masters’ hopes of wealth were now shattered, so they grabbed Paul and Silas and dragged them before the authorities at the marketplace…a mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods. They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.” Acts 16:19,22-24 NLT

“Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and signing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.” Acts 16:25 NLT

“Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!” Acts 16:26 NLT

 

  1. YOUR ATTITUDE CAN CHANGE, JUST LIKE YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want” Philippians 4:12 NIV 

YOUR ATTITUDE IS YOUR CHOICE 

“After they were severely beaten, they were thrown into prison and the jailer was commanded to guard them securely. So the jailer placed them in the innermost cell of the prison and had their feet bound and chained. Paul and Silas, undaunted, prayed in the middle of the night and sang songs of praise to God…” Acts 16:23-25 TPT 

UNDAUNTED: undismayed; not discouraged; not forced to abandon purpose or effort

UNDAUNTED: not at all afraid or worried about dealing with something, especially something that would frighten or worry most people.

JESUS 

  1. AN ATTITUDE OF CONTENTMENT CAN BE DEVELOPED IF WE RELY ON THE SECRET SAUCE 

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV

“…My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am made strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NLT

The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!” The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”  Acts 16:26-30 NIV 

GOD CAN BREAK THE CHAINS OF YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES WHEN YOU LEAN ON HIS STRENGTH RATHER THAN YOUR OWN

ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO WITNESS TO OTHERS IS BY HOW YOU RESPOND TO ADVERSITY

  1. AN ATTITUDE OF CONTENTMENT WILL REMIND YOU WHO GOD CREATED YOU TO BE NOT WHO YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES TRY TO AFFECT YOU TO BE

“…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37 NIV

WHEN I STARTED ACTING LIKE A 1480

“For we are God’s masterpiece…” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

WHEN YOUR REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST, YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, BOTH PAST AND PRESENT, DON’T HAVE TO DETERMINE YOUR FUTURE
