FOR EVERY OUTCOME YOU DESIRE, THERE MUST BE AN INPUT DISCIPLINE FOR IT TO BECOME A REALITY 

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. James 2:17-18 NIV

Disciplines that we engage in with another person or group 

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially Now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT 

  1. Confession

Confession: The process of confessing sins to another person

“Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone! Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. 

“When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” John 8:4-11 NLT 

We are all perfectly imperfect

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 NLT 

  1. Be Specific
  1. Be Sorrowful
  1. Have a determination to avoid sin

God is after progression not perfection

WORSHIP

Music is not the only way to worship God

The process of glorifying God

“Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God. It is the quickening of the conscience by his holiness; the nourishment of mind with his truth; the purifying of imagination by his beauty; the opening of the heart to his love; the surrender of will to his purpose – all this gathered up in adoration, the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable.” William Temple
 

“Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” Colossians 3 16-17 NLT

Guidance: The pursuit of God’s will for our lives

“Guidance is the most radical of the disciplines because it goes to the heart of the matter of walking with God. Guidance means the glorious life of hearing God’s voice and obeying his word.” Richard Foster 

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 ESV

  1. Seek wisdom from others

“Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” Proverbs 11:14 NKJV

Celebration

Celebration: Setting aside time and resources to gather and celebrate the goodness of God.

“Without a joyful spirit of festivity, the disciplines become dull, death-breathing tools in the hands of modern Pharisees.” Richard Foster 

Its celebration that fuels our life through the highs and the lows 

  1. Make a Noise

“Shout praises to the Lord! With all that I am, I will shout his praises. I will sing and praise the Lord God as long as I live” Psalm 146:1-2 CEV

  1. Church Celebrations

“In the same way, there will be a glorious celebration in heaven over the resuce of one lost sinner who repents, comes back home, and returns to the fold…” Luke 15:7 TPT
