THE RUTHLESS ELIMINATION OF HURRY
BUSYNESS
“Hurry is the great enemy of spiritual life in our day.” Dallas Willard
“If the devil can’t make you sin, he’ll make you busy!” Corrie Ten Boom
“If you’re not fighting the devil every day, then he is working harder than you” – Pastor Chris Hodges
Silence and Solitude
Live Deliberately
You can be less hurried and more productive
“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
“But you are God’s chosen treasure – priests who are kings, a spiritual ‘nation’ set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own…” 1 Peter 2:9 TPT
You can’t fully access the promises of God without following the rhythms of God

Sabbath
“The Sabbath has largely been forgotten by the Church, which has uncritically mimicked the rhythms of the industrial and success-obsessed West. The result? Our road-weary, exhausted Churches have largely failed to integrate Sabbath into their lives as vital elements of Christian discipleship. It is not as though we do not love God – we love God deeply. We just do not know how to sit with God anymore.” – AJ Swoboda
“We have become perhaps the most emotionally exhausted, psychologically overworked, spiritually malnourished people in history.” – AJ Swoboda
“Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.” Exodus 20:8-11 NLT
Sabbath: Hebrew word “Shabbat” means “To Stop” or “Cease”
“You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a “stopping day” dedicated to the Lord your God.” Exodus 20:9-10 NLT
TRUE REST
The Sabbath is a command from God
“…make every effort to enter that rest…” Hebrews 4:11 NIV
“So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.” Hebrews 4:11 NLT
“The lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” Psalm 23:1-3 NIV
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” Genesis 2:2-3 NIV
You can’t experience the blessings of God without following the rhythms of God
When we practice Sabbath, God will bless and do more with the 6 days that we have than we ever could with the 7
